Bally Sports Group's Little Sluggers is a great introduction to the game of baseball for young children. Using age-appropriate activities, players are introduced to fundamentals of baseball in an atmosphere that is supportive, fun and encouraging. Each week the program includes an instructional portion that introduces players to batting, base running, fielding, throwing, catching and a modified game. The Little Sluggers T-Ball Program provides your child with a fun and positive t-ball experience that encourages continued participation in the sport. Amazing Athletes uses a multi-sport program to benefit children physically, mentally, socially and emotionally. Children in Amazing Athletes routinely gain greater confidence, learn to combine fitness with fun, and develop six key motor skills: balancing, running, jumping, throwing, catching and kicking. Students learn the rules and concepts of chess, tournament procedures and etiquette, and the knowledge to participate in a casual or competitive game with family or friends. This is the perfect class for a new player or novice player looking to increase confidence in their game. In the first half of each class, world champion openings, ideas in the middle game, endgame patterns, tactical motifs and elements are examined and discussed. For the remainder of the class, students will be given the opportunity to play against one another in our weekly club tournament.

Code Ninjas offers an enriching coding experience for kids, fostering the development of valuable coding skills through a game-based curriculum. In Code Ninjas CREATE, kids have a blast building awesome video games and developing ninja coding skills on the path from white to black belt. Using a computer program called Make Code Arcade, students learn the basics of Block Coding. This allows students to understand the basics of code before they advance to type-coding in JavaScript, which utilizes the actual language of coding. This is a self-paced program and works on a belt system similar to Martial Arts in which participants begin in white belt and end in black belt, with the difficulty of coding increasing as they advance from belt to belt.

A perfect experience for those who are interested in art and exploring their artistic abilities! Young artists develop a basic understanding of drawing, water color, and acrylic painting through various projects. The program provides step-by-step instruction to ensure all participants create a successful piece of artwork. Each class will cover separate topics and provide new projects.

Learn various coding concepts and languages through the game of Minecraft: Education Edition. Explore Block-Style coding through lessons, which incorporate learn and play, and make changes in Minecraft not achieved through traditional game play. Walk away with a fundamental grasp of computer coding. This program takes place in the new Respawn Lounge at the DCRC.

Learn ancient skills needed for survival at an archaeological site, Ferris Wright Park. Utilizing American Indian tools used 2000 years ago, participants are actively engaged for a true ancient history experience. This program takes place at the Ferris Wright Interpretive Building in Ferris Wright Park.

Bally Sports Group Minor League Baseball is a great introduction to coach-pitch baseball for beginning baseball players! Skills taught include batting, fielding, throwing and catching. The program also includes both practice and a modified, non-competitive game each week. As weeks progress, new aspects of the game/game scenarios are added to allow children to learn within the context of the game. Coaches emphasize the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship in a positive atmosphere. Kids leave the program wanting to continue their baseball careers! Participants bring their own baseball glove; all other equipment provided by Bally Sports Group.

Learn dance basics, counting, choreography, coordination, and more - all set to Kpop music! Kpop is fun, happy, and wholesome music that is perfect for kids. This class consists of a warm-up, dance routine, and freestyle dance party at the end of each class. Learn a line dance and dance with pom poms, while fully immersed in Kpop for the entire 45 minutes. Parents receive a playlist, so kids can practice at home and listen to songs that quickly become their Kpop favorites.

Open to all skill levels for ages 8-14, Coach Kyle will take basketball players through a series of dynamic warm ups and conditioning workouts, skills and drills training, and small-group game play. Throughout the 6-week session, players will develop in the following categories: ball-handling, shooting, footwork, offensive techniques, and overall sportsmanship. This small group format is perfect for new players or for those looking to increase confidence in their game.

Get the kids up and moving on a Saturday morning! This introduction to tennis includes lead-up games to develop coordination and strength, followed by ball control drills using forehand and backhand. The DCRC and Game Arena invite you to join us for our 3rd annual Shamrock Showdown. This year will feature Super Smash Brothers Ultimate and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Tournaments. The latest renditions in the classic Nintendo franchise is sure to bring competitors from everywhere. All skill levels are welcome and encouraged to compete. Check-in begins at 11 a.m. at the DCRC. Registration includes the venue fee of $10, but an additional $10 gaming fee (per game) is due the day of the event.

Performers ages 14 & up work with theatre professionals and actors to produce, rehearse, and perform in an inclusive theatre production of the hybrid musical Could You Hug A Cactus? Based on a collection of whimsical poems, Could You Hug A Cactus is a musical revue which follows a group of people as they come together to create a show that is bursting with poetry and creativity. Exit Skills Assessment
Enter independently, using either the ladder, steps or side, travel at least 5 yards, submerge to mouth and blow bubbles for at least 3 seconds then safely exit the water. Children can walk, move along the gutter or swim.
While in shallow water, glide on front at least 2 body lengths, then roll to back and float on back for 3 seconds then recover to a vertical position
