This class is ideal for teens/adults ages 18+ interested in enhancing their swimming skills and keeping fit in the water without the competiveness of swim team. All participants must be able to complete 50 yards of all four strokes continuously. This program will focus on fitness, endurance, and stroke refinement through direct coaching from an instructor. You will work through a variety of drills for all 4 strokes, as well as proper form for flip turns, open turns, and dives/starts from the blocks.

Skills are as follows: Flip Turns, Open Turns, Breastroke Pull Outs, Streamlines, Kicking, Front/Back Flip Turns, Treading Water, Racing Starts (from blocks), Endurance Practice & Distance Swimming, Individual Medley, Freestyle w/ Flip Turns, Backstroke w/ Flip Turns, Butterfly w/ Open Turns, Breastroke w/ Open Turns

There are swim lessons on MLK Day and President's Day. No makeup classes are offered for lessons missed by participants.

Have you ever had a dance party in the pool? Adaptive Aqua Dance is an all-inclusive aquatic fitness class that promotes healthy, low-impact movements in the warm-water leisure pool slide area, which is 3-4 feet deep. All dance moves can be modified with assistance from our Aqua Fitness instructor, certified in Physically Integrated Dance. Participants are welcome to freestyle their own dance movements. An adult provider or caregiver is welcome to attend and assist any participant needing support in the water. An accessibility lift, a water wheelchair and a zero-depth entry are all available.

Sensory warning: Loud music is played during this class and excessive splashing may also occur. Bright fluorescent lighting and other aquatic activities also occur during this program. Looking for a more personalized aquatic fitness routine? This small group works with an aquatic fitness instructor once per week on aquatic exercises designed specifically for those 55 and older. Using the lazy river and warm-water leisure pool, this class benefits from total body training including improved cardio, strength & balance, and improved flexibility. In this training session you receive individualized attention from an instructor, progress at your own pace, and benefit from resistance training in the water… plus, you get to work out with friends!
